The 90s were hard on Yurga.

Barter, income stratification, privatization. And in 1994, the crisis hit the machine-building plant: wages weren’t paid for months, strikes began.

Some called the city dying. But Yurga did not die. People endured and preserved the city because they knew how to work and stick together — just as they once built the factory, as they survived the war.

Today Yurga lives in a new century with faith in itself. And this, perhaps, is the main idea of the entire history.
